The Dallas Police Department held a ‘Back to School’ Celebration for youth in underserved communities who recently and successfully completed the department’s summer youth jobs program. The students enjoyed a fun-filled night of bowling and prizes as well as backpacks filled with school supplies and tablets. The event occurred Thurs., August 15, from 7-10 p.m. at the Punch Bowl Social Dallas.
The summer youth jobs program has long been a dream of Police Chief, U. Reneé Hall. The goal was to create a comprehensive program to captivate youth ages 14-17 to help them learn leadership skills and provide workforce development while building trust to achieve long-term positive engagement.
